Top Alcohol Hydro at the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Race Series in Marble Falls, Texas

The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series stopped in Marble Falls, Texas during the 26th annual LakeFest festival. Qualifying took place on Friday, August 11, racing on Saturday, August 12, and finals on Sunday, August 13, 2017.

The event is held on Lake Marble Falls and is sponsored by the Marble Falls / Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce. Executive director Patti Zinsmeyer stated "We estimate, over the three days, there were more than 25,000 spectators. That is not counting all the families and crew members for the racers or people who watch from the bridge or homes or places like Riverview RV park on the south side of the lake.”.

Traveling at speeds of 200 plus MPH and impressive elapsed times of 4.322 in 1000 ft, the driver must be on his game each time. Top Alcohol Hydro may use alcohol (pure methanol), nitro-methane may be used with an unblown alcohol hydro. Blown or supercharged engines, as well as un-blown fuel engines may not exceed 565 cubic inches. These machines utilize both V-drives and w-drives and the out rigger style hull made its deput in 2011.
