Senior guard Kerwin Roach II scored a team-high 16 points to lead The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (15-11, 7-6 Big 12) to a 69-57 victory over Oklahoma State (9-16, 2-10 Big 12) on Saturday afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center. Roach converted 6-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the free throw line while adding 3 assists and 2 steals in 34 minutes.
Senior forward Dylan Osetkowski scored 14 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the floor, including a 3-of-3 clip from long range, in 26 minutes. Sophomore guard Matt Coleman III tallied 10 points, hitting 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Oklahoma State took a 12-5 lead after a Thomas Dziagwa three-pointer with 13:58 left. Coleman then knocked down a pair of free throws to cap a 10-0 spurt by the Longhorns to give Texas a three-point lead (15-12) at the 11:05 mark. Osetkowski accounted for six straight points to push UT's advantage to five (27-22) with 5:30 remaining. Roach connected on a three-pointer with one second left to give the Longhorns a 38-27 lead at the half.
The Cowboys used a 9-0 run to cut Texas' lead to four (42-38) at the 14:33 mark. The Longhorns responded with a 7-0 spurt, capped by a three-point play by Courtney Ramey, to extend UT's lead back to 11 (49-38) with 12:51 remaining.
Two made field goals on consecutive possessions by Oklahoma State pulled the Cowboys within six (53-47) at the 8:54 mark. Royce Hamm Jr. converted a put-back that put Texas up by 12 (63-51) with 5:21 left. OSU was unable to trim the lead to single digits over the remainder of the game. (Source: UT Athletics)
