University of Texas Longhorns women's basketball game against Baylor Bears at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas on February 4, 2018.

Junior guard Sug Sutton and senior guard Danni Williams both scored a team-high 19 points, but a comeback by the No. 14 Texas Women's Basketball team (18-5, 8-3 Big 12) fell short in a loss to No. 1 Baylor (20-1, 10-0 Big 12), 74-68, on Monday night at the Frank Erwin Center. Sutton converted on 7-of-15 from floor and added six assists in 38 minutes. Williams connected on 7-of-13 attempts, including a 5-of-8 clip from three-point range, while also chipping in six rebounds and five assists.

Senior forward Jatarie White supplied 13 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard/forward Joyner Holmes added 11 points, four rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes.

The Longhorns opened the game shooting a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range as Texas took an early 9-6 lead at the 4:40 mark of the first quarter. Baylor ended the last 5:18 of the first quarter on a 15-3 run to capture a seven-point advantage (19-12).

Trailing by as many as 14 points in the second quarter, consecutive baskets by Sug Sutton and Jatarie White trimmed the deficit to just six (30-24) with 2:51 remaining in the half. Sutton beat the buzzer, draining her third three-pointer of the night as time expired to pull the Longhorns within seven (36-29) at the break.

White knocked down a free throw to snap a Texas scoring drought that lasted over three minutes, but the Longhorns would trail by 19 (57-38) with 2:32 left in the third quarter. Eight straight points by Williams, including two three-pointers, cut Baylor's lead to seven (67-60) with 2:53 left in the game.

A pair of free throws by Sutton pulled UT within four (70-66) with 35.7 seconds remaining, the closest margin since the 2:15 mark of the first quarter. The Lady Bears knocked down four free throws over the last 30 seconds to secure the victory. (Source: UT Athletics)
