Texas took down No. 8 Minnesota in straight sets (25-22, 29-27, 35-33) on Wednesday night in a rowdy Gregory Gym to remain undefeated (3-0) on the young season. Senior Micaya White led all players with 16 kills, seven digs, two aces, and four blocks, while sophomore Logan Eggleston added 15 kills, two aces, nine digs and two blocks.

UT's freshman trio made a huge impact in the victory. Skylar Fields posted 10 kills, hitting .348, and tallied one block. Asjia O'Neal contributed seven kills, hitting .700, and added seven blocks and two aces, while Molly Phillips registered five kills, hitting .714, and two blocks. Sophomore Sydney Petersen led the team in digs (17), while sophomore Jhenna Gabriel finished with 45 assists and five digs.

With UT trailing 24-20 in the second set, White registered a side-out kill and then stepped to the service line to tally three-straight points that tied the set at 24. Tied at 27-all, White and Eggleston recorded back-to-back kills to close out the set win for the Longhorns.

In the third set, Texas trailed 17-14 before kills from Phillips and Fields and a combination block from the freshman duo tied the set at 17-all. UT later fought off nine set points. Tied at 33, the Longhorns closed out the match on back-to-back kills from White. The Longhorns return to action and will face their third-straight ranked opponent, when they travel to No. 1 Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. CT.
