The University of Texas kicked a 49-yard field goal to go up 19-17 with 1:29 to play, but couldn't hold off Alabama as they fell 20-19 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Hudson Card coming in for Quinn Ewers completed 14-of-22 passes for 158 yards. Xavier Worthy caught five balls for 97 yards. After holding Alabama to a field goal on their opening drive, the Longhorns drove 67 yards on 15 plays, ending with a 26-yard field goal to even the game 3-3.
On their second drive of the game, Quinn Ewers hit Xavier Worthy for 46 yards, which set up a one-yard touchdown run by Bijan Robinson to tie the game 10-10. Texas took a 13-10 lead on a 33-yard field goal by Bert Auburn with 6:27 to play in the third quarter. The Longhorns increased their lead to 16-10 with a 12-play, 65 yard drive which ended in a Bert Auburn 24-yard field goal. Alabama took the lead with a 11 play, 75-yard drive, culminating in a seven-yard touchdown throw to go up 17-16. Texas drove down the field and kicked a 49-yard field goal to take a 19-17 lead over Alabama with 1:29 to play in the fourth quarter. The Crimson Tide responded with a nine-play, 61-yard drive and kicked a 33-yard field goal that ended up winning the game 20-19.
