Michael Franti is a musician, humanitarian, and filmmaker who is recognized as a pioneering force in the music industry. Franti believes in using music as a vehicle for positive change and is revered for his hi-energy live shows, inspiring music, and worldwide philanthropy efforts.
Giving back has always been at the heart of Franti’s mission. He has dedicated his life to spreading the joy of music and positivity to millions of people. In 2013 Michael and his wife Sara founded Do It For The Love Foundation to grant live concert music wishes to people living with life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges and wounded veterans throughout North America. Franti believes that
in granting live concert music wishes, he is helping those in need to feel supported, loved, happy and hopeful.
Franti is a respected yoga practitioner and is the owner and co-founder of Soulshine Bali, a yoga and wellness retreat oasis in Indonesia. Franti is passionate about promoting a holistic and globally conscious lifestyle and organizes pre-concert yoga meetups in communities along his tours.
In creating their ninth studio album SOULROCKER, Michael Franti & Spearhead introduced a new sensibility to their potent hybrid of hip-hop, rock, folk, and reggae: a gracefully arranged take on electronic music that more than fulfills the band’s mission of making impassioned music you can dance to. Once an outlier in his message of positivity-minded political consciousness, Franti has found that message gaining momentum in the mainstream in recent years, a phenomenon that compelled him to push his artistry even further, stating “I feel a deeper sense of purpose in music today than I ever have in my career. My goal is to make the most inspiring music I possibly can for this intense, crazy and wonderful time we’re all living in.”

Michael was a wonderful entertainer. His energy level was through the roof and he obviously loves everyone. This is a great vibe show much love. He goes out into the audience to perform and get close several times. To cap it off he brings up a family and has them sing with him. Wonderful messages in his music.
This is my 3rd or 4th time seeing Franti & Spearhead at Rialto and the experience was as amazing and fun as ever! The energy and attitude of Michael Franti and Spearhead is wonderful and keeps me smiling!
Such a wonderful concert. For all ages Michael gets the crowd so excited from the people waiting in line out front to the people way up in the balcony. I have seen him numerous times and he has never disappointed me yet!!
Amazing is all I can say, a smaller club and made every one a part of the show. He got off the stage, went in to the crowd multiple times, upstairs in the balconies. He made me a fan for life.
What an experience! Michael Franti and Spearhead were amazing! Some people are singers and some are entertainers, Michael is both. You can feel the raw emotion and love from his songs transfer to every audience member. The crowd was so diverse! There were people there in their 70's all the way to 7 year-olds. What an amazing show and a gracious band!
Absolutely amazing! Michael Fronti has always had the ability to present how music transcends all social, economical, cultural, religious and ethnic differences. This is the third time that I have seen him and it was by far the best. He only continues to get better. If you have never seen Michael Franti and Spearhead, you are missing out on an incredible experience. I highly highly recommend that if you have a chance to see them please do so.
