The Wimberley Texans secured their 20th District Championship and clinched their third consecutive gold ball, sealing the victory with a commanding 34-22 triumph over Lago Vista at Texan Stadium on Friday, October 27.

The Texans heavily relied on the talents of Cody Stoever, the junior quarterback, who carried the ball an impressive 23 times, accumulating 179 yards with three touchdowns. Stoever also showcased his passing skills, completing eight of 14 passes for 106 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown pass to Noah Birdsong. His touchdowns came from runs of 25, 28, and two yards, while Chase Carson contributed with a touchdown on an 18-yard run. By halftime, Wimberley held a substantial 27-7 lead.

Reflecting on the victory, Stoever expressed, "We all know our ultimate goal, but it feels good to get that gold ball and the district championship." The Texans amassed a total of 327 yards on offense, with Carson adding 31 yards rushing and Owen O’Neal contributing 17 yards. Nolan Waida, who secured an interception, led the receivers with three catches for 70 yards. Birdsong made two receptions for 25 yards and also recovered a Viking fumble.

As Wimberley (9-0 overall, 4-0 district) looks to conclude the regular season, they will hit the road to face Austin Achieve (2-7 overall, 0-4 district) at 7:30 p.m. on November 3.
