In a race that electrified the crowd, Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets - MSI) secured his first Moto2™ victory at the Circuit of The Americas, holding off home favorite Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing). This win not only marked Garcia's maiden Moto2™ triumph but also propelled him to the top of the Championship standings, putting him two points ahead of Roberts. Pre-season favorite Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) clinched his first podium of the year, showcasing his resilience after a challenging start.
The race kicked off with Garcia taking the holeshot into the technical turn one, leading the field with Roberts hot on his heels, much to the delight of the American fans. Aldeguer and pole-sitter Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) dropped to eighth and tenth respectively, falling back into the clutches of the determined Ai Ogura (MT Helmets - MSI). Gresini Moto2™ teammates Manuel Gonzalez and Albert Arenas had a close call, with Gonzalez later receiving a penalty for an overzealous start, forcing him to serve a double Long Lap Penalty and dropping him to 15th.
Aldeguer, however, made his way into the top five, joining teammate Alonso Lopez (Beta Tools SpeedUp) in a thrilling battle for fourth place. Aldeguer eventually overtook Lopez with nine laps remaining and began his charge forward. Meanwhile, Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team) was having an impressive race, keeping Roberts under pressure for second place. However, Aldeguer quickly passed Foggia and set his sights on Roberts.
Garcia maintained a steady rhythm, building a lead of over one second. Roberts matched Garcia's pace but made a mistake at turn 12, reducing the chances of an American victory. The crowd witnessed a thrilling duel for second place between Roberts and Aldeguer in the final laps, with Roberts ultimately prevailing. Garcia, despite some late-race errors, held on to win by just under half a second, celebrating his victory under the Texas sun and taking the Championship lead.
Roberts finished second, marking his first back-to-back podiums, much to the joy of his home crowd. Aldeguer secured a solid third-place finish, followed by teammate Lopez, who couldn't quite match the podium pace. Marcos Ramirez added to the OnlyFans American Racing Team's points tally, rounding out a competitive top five.

MotoGP
Grand Prix motorcycle racing is the oldest established motorsport world championship and the premier class of motorcycle road racing events held on road circuits sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). Grand Prix motorcycles are purpose-built racing machines that are unavailable for purchase by the general public and unable to be ridden legally on public roads. The championship is currently divided into four classes: the eponymous MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE.
Circuit of The Americas
Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is the premier destination for world-class motorsports and entertainment in the United States. Just outside downtown Austin, Circuit of The Americas has hosted the biggest names in racing, action sports and music. At its heart is a 3.41-mile racetrack that was designed to challenge the world's most exacting competitors while providing a thrilling spectacle for audiences.
The 20-turn, counterclockwise circuit takes advantage of the naturally undulating landscape, including an intimidating 133-foot hill at Turn 1. It has hosted the Formula 1 United States Grand Pix, MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas, ESPN's X Games, the FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Pirelli World Challenge and more. Nestled within the track is Germania Insurance Amphitheater, the largest permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Texas, and its 251-foot signature observation tower.
