Lamb of God, a heavy metal band from Richmond, Virginia, began their journey under the name Burn the Priest. Their music blends metalcore, thrash, punk, and death metal influences. They gained recognition for their uncompromising style and achieved commercial success with albums like Ashes of the Wake and Sacrament.

The band, featuring vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Will Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler, released their acclaimed album New American Gospel under their new name Lamb of God. Extensive touring followed, solidifying their reputation in the metal scene.

Subsequent albums like As the Palaces Burn and Ashes of the Wake further established Lamb of God. They continued touring extensively and garnered critical acclaim. Sacrament reached number eight on the Billboard 200 chart, and their aggressive follow-up, Wrath, climbed to number two.

The band released a comprehensive retrospective titled Hourglass: The Anthology. Their seventh album, Resolution, topped the charts. That same year, vocalist Randy Blythe faced legal troubles in Europe but was eventually found not guilty. He later wrote a memoir about the experience.

Lamb of God released their eighth studio album, VII: Sturm und Drang. The following year, they issued an EP, Duke, featuring live cuts and new studio tracks. Drummer Chris Adler was sidelined from touring due to a motorcycle accident. The band revisited their Burn the Priest moniker with a covers album, Legion: XX. Art Cruz replaced Adler on drums and made his recording debut on the band's self-titled album, Lamb of God.
