Descartes to Kant returns with their new studio album After Destruction, set for release on September 29th in all formats. This concept album explores existential cycles of creation and destruction through a carefully crafted narrative arc.
After Destruction delves into the psychological discomfort of a hyper-connected yet emotionally isolated society, blending a retro-futuristic aesthetic with intense guitars, synthesizers, and soulful melodies.
The band also critiques modern emotional consumerism by introducing The DAK, an automaton character designed to repair emotional damage. This innovative machine makes appearances in both interludes on the album and live performances, symbolizing how turning pain into art has never been easier for a world seeking recovery after catastrophe.
The album's first single and title track was released during the summer, accompanied by a video directed by Gamaliel de Santiago. Additionally, the band announced a full video collection for the album, directed by Persia Campbell, which will premiere on their YouTube channel. The first video, "Raindrops of Poison," will debut alongside the album on September 29th, followed by "The Mess We've Made," dropping in early December to coincide with their European tour. This 15-date tour includes performances in Belgium, Italy, Spain, France, Slovenia, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland, culminating in a show at Mexico City's Zócalo. In 2024, the band will continue touring, playing festivals across Mexico, the U.S., Europe, and South America.
