Kostolom, the powerful second album from Alex Terrible and Jack Simmons’ band Slaughter to Prevail, builds on the intensity of their 2017 debut, Misery Sermon. This record pushes their sound to new extremes, combining Alex’s dark, cathartic lyrics with Simmons’ crushing riffs and cinematic solos. "We wanted each song to stand out in its own way," says Simmons. "Some tracks focus on high energy and breakdowns, while others emphasize groove or melody. The albums we love most have that kind of dynamic, and we aimed to make each part hit harder."

The songs evolved over several years, with the first demos being crafted just before the release of Misery Sermon, and the final recordings completed in late 2020. Each band member, Alex, Simmons, bassist Mikhail Petrov, and guitarist Dmitry Mamedov, tracked their parts at home, while drummer Evgeny Novikov recorded at a studio in Moscow.

Tracks like “Made in Russia” and “Head on a Plate” slam listeners with bone-crushing, detuned riffs, giving Alex space to unleash his most menacing vocals. However, he also explores new territory, adding clean choruses on anthems like “Baba Yaga” and “Your Only.” Though the song titles might seem dark, Alex’s lyrics—mostly in Russian, with some English—are surprisingly uplifting. “The lyrics are personal,” Simmons explains, “about struggle, staying positive, and pushing through hardship to achieve your goals.”

True to their style, Slaughter to Prevail aims to provoke emotion, whether it's excitement, anger, or introspection. "We want to create something that causes a reaction," Simmons adds. "It doesn't matter if it's positive or negative—we don't want anything stereotypical."
Fan reviews:

Heck yea! 10/10 recommend on any and every level, I've been to a lot of shows and they are amazing! Saw them Marilyn Manson and Funeral Portrait and they killed it! Was so much fun that the rest of the show was subpar!

Fantastic performance! I got to hear and see Slaughter To Prevail for the first time last night at the Manson / Five Finger Death Punch concert last night and they may have had a short set but they were amazing and their energy was contagious! I am definitely a fan now and I can’t wait to see them again!

Wow! The band that performed before Marilyn Manson may have had a short set, but they left a lasting impression with their incredible vocals and captivating performance. Their unique sound set them apart from others, and I would eagerly attend their own tour for a longer set. This band truly deserves a 10/10 rating for their fantastic performance!

Best band of the whole show. Slaughter to Prevail was awesome. I saw them with Manson and Five Finger Death Punch. And those bands were definitely awesome, but my favorites for the whole show was Slaughter to Prevail! Alex Terrible stage performance was so bad ass. The entire band was just so good. I wish they were on longer. They did amazing!

Favorite band of all time! First time I saw them back in 2023 and saw them again three days ago and it was an amazing, brutal and ecstatic show. Alex knows how to make a crowd go crazy and the mosh pits were insane , absolutely brutal and high energy.
