Half Asian and half Latinx, The Linda Lindas are a band made up of two sisters, a cousin, and their close friend. They blend the energy of original punk, power pop, and new wave with a fresh perspective. Mila (11), Eloise (13), Lucia (14), and Bela (17) first played together as part of Kristin Kontrol's cover band for Girlschool LA in January 2018, alongside members of Best Coast and Karen O. Later that year, Bela invited Lucia, Eloise, and Mila to back her up at a Hi-Hat gig, and the group was officially formed.
They adopted the name The Linda Lindas when they started performing at Save Music in Chinatown benefit shows, sharing the stage with punk legends like The Dils, Alley Cats, and Alice Bag. They've also played with Best Coast, opened for Bleached, and were chosen by Bikini Kill to open for them at a Hollywood Palladium reunion show. In 2019, they performed at festivals like Viva! Pomona and Dia De Los Muertos, and played a local show at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts just before the pandemic hit.
In 2020, their first original song appeared in The Claudia Kishi Club documentary, and they wrote a song and made a video with punk icons to encourage voting in the presidential election. They also self-released their debut EP, featuring tracks written and sung by each band member. In 2021, they gained wider recognition with an appearance in the Amy Poehler film Moxie and their viral performance of "Racist, Sexist Boy" at the Los Angeles Public Library, which led to a deal with Epitaph Records.
In September 2021, The Linda Lindas returned to the stage after 19 months, performing new songs at The Smell and surprising the sold-out crowd with a cover of The Go-Go’s "Tonite" featuring Go-Go’s drummer Gina Schock. Stay tuned for more music and shows from The Linda Lindas!
Fan reviews:Setlist for the show at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater
Great show! I saw them open for Green Day, they put on a great show! They have a cool sound and have a big stage presence. They played a few new songs from their upcoming album. They’re definitely going places, I’m looking forward to when they headline their own tour!
Spectacular show! These kids are headed to the moon. Really happy for them.
Amazing energy and talent. This band has probably been one of my favorites to see live. The energy is amazing and they sound exactly like their Spotify if not better. The concert was kids and adult friendly. Highly recommend!
Phenomenal! Saw them open and was instantly in love. They have so much energy and their style of rock was so cool and almost "vintage". Their art work and visuals were so stunning and cute and attention grabbing. They put on a great show. Cant wait to see them headline some day!
Kick-ass, fun punk band! These four ladies delivered the goods: I was expecting good music infused with a punk attitude and a dash of humor, and that's exactly what we got. An energetic set of well-executed tunes, with great vocals, guitar, bass and drumming - and some rockstar acrobatics. What more could you ask? Set featured their own material and a couple of covers, never a dull moment , and and a good dose of charm, too. The Linda Lindas are already in the big time, touring big league US cities after their European debut, but are down to earth, funny, and really nice people. For example, before the doors opened, Bela and Eloise walked outside to thank fans for showing up, chatted and took some selfies with fans. I'd go and see them again in a heartbeat.
