Texas Volleyball dropped a tough five-set match to Miami, 25-19, 25-17, 24-26, 18-25, 11-15, for the Longhorns second loss of the season on Saturday at Gregory Gym. The Longhorns (2-2) will continue their homestand on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Gregory Gymnasium.

Madisen Skinner finished with a team-high 20 kills, while Marianna Singletary had a career-high 12 kills and six blocks. Jenna Wenaas added 10 kills, while Reagan Rutherford finished with eight kills. Texas held a slim 15-14 lead in the first set before going on a 5-1 run to pull away from Miami. Both teams hit well in the opening set, but the Longhorns were firing on all cylinders with a .481 hitting percentage.

The Longhorns rolled to a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 win in the second set. Texas finished with three blocks and three service aces in the set to neutralize the Miami offense. Texas then got out to a 9-5 lead in the third set before Miami went on a dominant 10-3 run to grab a 15-12 lead. The Longhorns came all the way back to take a 24-23 lead but came up short in the end to continue the match.

Miami carried the momentum into the fourth set and rolled to a 25-18 win to force a fifth set. The Hurricanes got out to another early lead in the fifth set and put the match away with a 15-11 win. (Source: UT Athletics)
