The No. 3 Texas Longhorns secured a decisive 31-14 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats, showcasing their offensive and defensive prowess in front of a packed Darrell K. Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
The Longhorns' offense was led by a dynamic rushing attack, with Quintrevion Wisner and Jaydon Blue combining for 251 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Wisner, in particular, was a force to be reckoned with, carrying the ball 26 times for 158 yards and two scores. Blue also contributed significantly, rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
Texas' defense was equally impressive, limiting Kentucky to just 232 total yards and 21 rushing yards. The Longhorn defensemen were relentless, sacking the quarterback six times and racking up 11 tackles for loss. A key moment came early in the game when Jelani McDonald intercepted a pass, marking the Longhorns' 11th consecutive game with a turnover.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers had an efficient performance, completing 20 of 31 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with Gunnar Helm on multiple occasions, including two touchdown passes. Helm finished with 51 receiving yards on five catches.
The Longhorns opened the scoring with an 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive capped by a Ewers-to-Helm connection. Kentucky responded with a 73-yard touchdown drive to tie the game. However, Texas quickly regained the lead with a Blue rushing touchdown.
The Longhorns extended their advantage with another Ewers-to-Helm touchdown pass and a 49-yard field goal by Bert Auburn. Kentucky managed to score a defensive touchdown in the third quarter, but Texas' dominant rushing attack and stout defense sealed the victory.
With this impressive win, the Longhorns have solidified their position as one of the top teams in the country. Their balanced offensive attack and dominant defense have them well-positioned for a successful season.
