In a heart-stopping playoff matchup, the Marlin Bulldogs narrowly defeated the Mason Punchers by a score of 40-37. The loss marked the end of Mason's impressive 11-game winning streak, while Marlin continued their own winning streak, extending it to eight games.
Marlin's quarterback, Roderick Suiters, was the catalyst for their victory. He showcased his dual-threat ability, passing for 307 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 70 yards. Suiters' efficiency was evident, averaging 11.4 yards per attempt. His performance was further highlighted by his defensive contributions, including an interception and five total tackles. Aarik Smith-Shelley was a key target for Suiters, hauling in 90 receiving yards.
Mason's home field advantage couldn't prevent the loss, snapping their five-game winning streak at home. The Punchers' season concludes with an 11-2 record. Marlin, now 10-3, will face the Ganado Indians on Thursday at 7:00 PM. The Bulldogs have been a high-scoring offense, averaging over 31 points per game in their last five matches.
