Get ready, Longhorn Nation! Texas Volleyball is once again proving why they're a perennial powerhouse, kicking off the 2025 season as the No. 5 ranked team in the prestigious American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Coaches' Poll. This isn't just a strong start, it's a legacy! The Longhorns have an astonishing track record, landing in the top five in 19 of the past 21 seasons and the top 10 in 20 of the last 21 preseason rankings. Consistency? Texas defines it.
While picked second in the SEC, don't let that fool you. Texas proudly leads the charge as the highest-ranked SEC university, soaring above conference favorite Kentucky (No. 7). And the SEC is ready to rumble, with four other conference rivals joining Texas in the Top 25: No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 16 Florida, and No. 17 Missouri. Get ready for some thrilling conference showdowns!
The road to glory starts fast and furious! The Longhorns face an immediate test, opening their season against two fellow titans: No. 12 Creighton and No. 8 Wisconsin at the highly anticipated Opening Spike Classic in Madison. But the challenges don't stop there. This season features an incredible 11 preseason Top 25 matchups, including a must-see home opener against No. 6 Stanford at the Moody Center on September 6th.
