The atmosphere in Gregory Gym was electric as the No. 2 Texas Longhorns returned to their home court, and they did not disappoint. In a dominant performance, the Longhorns swept No. 9 Arizona State, continuing their remarkable undefeated streak this season. The victory, a powerful statement at home, showcased the team's depth and relentless drive, bringing their season record to a pristine 6-0.

This win marks the fifth time this season Texas has toppled a top-15 opponent, a feat unmatched by any other team in the nation. The Longhorns have systematically dismantled some of the country's best programs, with previous victories over No. 12 Creighton, No. 8 Wisconsin, No. 6 Stanford, and No. 4 Louisville. Each win has solidified their position as a national powerhouse and a legitimate contender for a championship title.

The Longhorns took control early in the first set, powered by a sizzling .323 attack percentage and 16 kills. They built a commanding 15-10 lead with a five-point run and capitalized on a strong defensive presence, including a crucial block from Ayden Ames and Abby Vander Wal that extended their lead to 17-11. The set ended with a pair of aces from Emma Halter and freshman Cari Spears, setting the tone for the night.

The second set proved to be a nail-biter, turning into the highest-scoring set of the season for Texas with a final score of 30-28. The action was back-and-forth, featuring 13 ties and four lead changes. Texas showed incredible resolve, fighting off two set points to ultimately clinch the win on consecutive kills by freshmen Taylor Harvey and Spears. Spears was a force of nature in this set, collecting half of her career-high 18 kills and adding four blocks to her stat sheet.

With the momentum firmly on their side, the Longhorns raced to an early lead in the third set, securing their third sweep of the season. Torrey Stafford delivered a powerful performance, contributing five of her 12 total kills in the final frame. The team finished with a combined 54 kills, a testament to their dynamic offense and balanced attack. Freshman Ella Swindle orchestrated the offense with precision, earning her first double-double of the season with 29 assists and 12 digs.

The Longhorns will look to extend their perfect record when they host No. 15 TCU on Wednesday. The match is scheduled to be broadcast on the SEC Network.
