The No. 2 Texas Longhorns continued their relentless march through the season, securing a clean sweep against the No. 21 Missouri Tigers in a thrilling three-set match (25-19, 26-24, 27-25) to maintain their perfect record. This dominant performance marks the team’s fifth consecutive sweep and elevates their season record to an unblemished 10-0, achieving the program’s first 10-0 start since their championship-winning year of 2022. The Longhorns have yet to drop a single set in Gregory Gym this season across all five home matches.
The victory was the result of a coordinated effort on both sides of the net. Junior Torrey Stafford led the offensive charge, tallying 15 kills while contributing significantly on defense with eight digs. The dynamic pairing of setter Ella Swindle and libero Emma Halter anchored the back row, with both athletes reaching double-digit digs. Swindle secured her second double-double of the season, recording an impressive 35 assists to go with her 10 digs, while Halter matched her defensive intensity with 10 digs of her own.
Texas set the tone early in the first set, claiming a 25-19 victory driven by aggressive serving. Four service aces fueled the fast start, enabling the Longhorns to seize the momentum. Swindle ran the offense masterfully, notching nine assists in the opening frame alone to keep the Missouri defense scrambling.
The second set quickly devolved into a tight, back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading points until the very end. Facing a deficit mid-set, the Longhorns called a timeout with Missouri leading 11-8, a decision that proved pivotal. Texas immediately responded with a 5-1 scoring run to reclaim the lead at 13-12. Stafford was clutch in the close-out, finishing the set with five kills and four digs while hitting a stellar .444 attack percentage, clinching the hard-fought 26-24 win.
The tension peaked in the third set, which saw Texas needing extended play to seal the deal with a 27-25 victory. Swindle was phenomenal in the closing moments, delivering 16 assists and six digs in the final set to ensure the sweep was complete. Having firmly established their dominance at home and through the first two matches of conference play, the Longhorns now take their undefeated streak on the road. Their next challenge will be against the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens on Wednesday.
